There is not a week that goes by where I don’t crave tranquility, indulging in something delicious that has been made by someone other than myself or my husband. The work week is so hectic on us all. The pressures from school affect all of us at home. And by the end of the week, we all just need to unwind. If you too, feel like I do, then grab yourself a cuppa. I’m about to tell you about a hidden gem, where you can indulge in delicious delicacies while kids run free! We went exploring again!
Indulge in Delicious Delicacies while Kids Run Free
You may have heard of Pederberg Cellars out in Paarl. They have been around for a long while and are well known for their quality wines. As an extension to the brand, they recently launched their own restaurant known as Eat @ Pederberg. We were invited to come and try out their menu. The 40 seater à la carte eatery serves up scrumptious, seasonal dishes which are suited for the whole family!
They have both an outdoor and indoor air conditioned seating area. Both are created as relaxing, tranquil environments for anyone visiting. The day we visited, the weather was absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t resist dinning in the garden area. Theres a stretch of green grass, a fountain, jungle gym and a jumping castle which they bring out every weekend. All of this in a safe area for the kids to run free.
Our Meals – Starters
The restaurant serves an À la Carte Menu from Wednesday through to Sunday, where an offer for a plated roast will also be available on Sundays. We tasted a few of the meals on the menu and and its safe to say you will enjoy them too!
For starters we were served Babotie Spring Rolls, served with a Chili Tomato and Coriander Jam. The Jam complimented the Spring rolls so well. I love that the Jam had a slight sting to it too.
We then moved over to the mains and tasted a few things from the menu. As seen in the picture below, we tried the Beef Oxtail (left). It was a juicy, succulent meat dish. The meat had incredible flavor and such tenderness. I coupled mine with the broccoli in white sauce and some of the potato mash which is a firm favorite.
I then moved over to the Venison and Dried Fruit Pie (right). Again, tender, tasty meat. Basically cooked to perfection. The pastry was so fresh and soft, it tasted amazing with the filling.
Lastly I tried the restaurants famous Cape Malay Chicken Curry (middle). As you may know, I’m from Durban, and love me a curry any time of the day and any day of the week. Naturally, I have high expectations of curry dishes, even the Cape Malay ones which are quite different to your Durban curries. I’m not easy to please when it comes to Curries. Something I always look out for in a curry is flavor and a medium level of heat. I don’t believe curries should be strong enough to make you sweat.
Eat @ Pederberg’s famous Cape Malay Chicken met my expectations! All three dishes were really delicious. When I visit again, I’ll go for the Beef Oxtail again, that was by far my favorite of the three.
Kids run free!
We enjoyed our delicious meals while my youngest ran free in the garden, made some friends, and jumped for days on the jumping castle. Liam is growing now, so when it come to restaurants, he is more impressed by tasty hotdogs and burgers, haha! The kids menu satisfied his needs. He enjoyed a hot dog and Cole nibbled on chicken strips and chips. The chicken was super fresh by the way. Both kids meals were nice size portions.
For the rest our stay, I sipped on a glass of Soft Smooth Rose while Hubby enjoyed (his favorite) Craft Beer. It was the perfect Sunday. My need for tranquility and to indulge in something delicious, that has been made by someone other than myself or my husband, was certainly met!
