I discovered this gem of a place about 3 years ago when I was pregnant with my youngest son, Cole. I had known about it but hadn’t been there and didn’t know exactly what its all about. My eldest son Liam and I visited on the very last stages of my pregnancy. We were wowed! Liam enjoyed endless discoveries at Cape Town Science Centre. And recently my youngest did too.
I was really chuffed when Cape Town Science Centre invited my family and I to visit during the school holidays. It was the perfect place to spend the day with both of my kids. I took some leave and braved going out without my better half but it turned out perfectly fine.
A place where both my kids can enjoy themselves
Cape Town Science Centre though, caters for a nicely spread age gap. Both my kids can enjoy endless discovery at Cape Town Science Centre. And that they did. Of course your smaller ones would need to explore with caution so make sure you stick close to them. And if the science stuff doesn’t excite them, you can take them into the little enclosed play area which has an age limit of 6.
To be honest though, Cole was alot more interested in all the gadgets, the Lego and even more so the construction area. He was really stimulated by all various scientific objects and the various activites.
A Holiday Program at Cape Town Science Centre
Since my better half was not with me, we skipped the holiday program workshops because those were for kids aged 4 and up and I couldn’t juggle both. Liam wasn’t keen to go without us. So myself and Liam will definitely be headed back there for the workshops especially the science shows that happen at 1 everyday.

My kids enjoyed endless discoveries at Cape Town Science Centre. And yours will too. Also if you get a little hungry, there is a cafe in the centre. You can enjoy a cuppa and a bite to eat with the view of your kids right in front of you.
Here are some more pictures of my kids endless discoveries at Cape Town Science Centre. And, theres a whole lot more that the centre has to offer thats not pictured here. Why not take the kids and see for yourself?
