What is a Meal Kit

A Meal Kit is exactly what the name suggests. Its a refrigerated box that is delivered to your house on a Monday and contains recipes of 3 or 4 (depends on the size you choose) nutritious dinners PLUS all the ingredients you will need to make them.

You can choose to order a 3 meal box or a 4 meal box. You can also choose between a family of 1, 2 or 4. I found that with the family of 4 box, there is always more than enough to fill all four of us. I’ve sometimes taken left overs for lunch the next day.

What I love about the Daily Dish meal kits is that they pack each meals ingredients in a separate brown bag. There is no confusion about which ingredients are for which meals. They also pack the exact amount of ingredients you need. So for example if there are spices used in a meal, they pack the exact amount of spice that you need to use.

When you’ve ordered a meal kit, you will receive an email reminding you of your delivery the next Monday and which items you will need to use from your pantry. It is usually salt and pepper, and olive oil and sometimes cling wrap.

I really love that Daily Dish will re-use the ice packs that come in your box, and re-cycle the boxes and brown bags for you. Simply hand it to the courier the next time they deliver to you. How awesome is that!

Some of the meals I’ve made with a Daily Dish Meal Kit

I’ve cooked so many different meals that I wouldn’t normally cook during the week for a number of reasons. I love that the Daily Dish meal kits give me an opportunity to experiment with different dishes. Their meals range from curries, Asian noodles, gourmet burgers, pastas and the list goes on. They also have a Banting and Vegetarian option and the weekly meals are well balanced. Here are some pictures of some of the meals I made using Daily Dish meals kits:

Basically these meal kits work hand in hand with meal planning that I’m always endorsing. As a busy mom myself, I’m always looking to save time and make my life easier! But, with everything there is a cost. And I’m sure you’re wondering about the price. Hayley did a comparison in the prices to check if it worked more or less expensive to make use of a Daily Dish Meal kit or purchase the groceries yourself. You can read the results here.
