You can’t pour from an empty cup. I’ve been saying this a lot on this space lately and I think it’s because it resonates so much with me. I keep reminding myself that I need to take care of me first and then I will be better able to take care of my family. And part of taking care of myself, means taking the time out to do something I enjoy, without my kids. A couple of weeks ago, I attended a Basic Beauty Workshop with some friends and I think it is such an amazing way to fill the cup, spend some time with your girls and learn some new make up tricks.
A girls afternoon with a twist!
We all got together in the comfort of a friends home, THANKS LEE! We had some Gin, some snacks and good laughter! The main event was having our nails gel painted by Monique and learning awesome beauty tricks by Alana. Before the workshop began, we kicked it off with a gel paint. It was the perfect addition to the day and Monique is really good at what she does. We then got into the make up stuff! I’ll leave all the contact details at the bottom of this article.
Don’t buy unnecessary make-up products!
Alana comes to your venue of choice, whether it be your home or a venue and brings along her wealth of experience and professionalism. What I loved about the Basic Beauty Workshop, is that I got to bring my own make up. Also I didn’t leave there feeling intimidated or pressured into buying any new make up because I learned how to make better use of the products I already have. I’m now achieving the look I’ve been trying to achieve for so long!
Alana has a tremendous amount of experience in the make up and beauty industry so it was a real honour to be taught by her. She strongly discourages purchasing make up products that you don’t need. And I completely agree. Over the years I’ve purchased so many products that are still sealed and have probably expired by now! And to top it off, I didn’t even need them to begin with!
Learning new beauty tricks!
Shopping for make up is always so daunting for me. I don’t know if it’s just me but I find that when I do need to buy a new make up products, I always feel so intimated. I end up so clueless after leaving a store. Or I end up purchasing the very thing I didn’t need. Alana answered quite a few of the make up questions I had for a while. It really set me at ease for my future make up purchases.
It’s an interactive workshop so she talks you through each step, shows you how to apply then you get to try it out yourself, on yourself. Although you bring your own make-up products, she does bring make up with her if you don’t have certain products. This really helps if there’s been a step missing in your make up routine. For example, one of the girls in our group didn’t use a primer and she saw how much better her foundation applies after using a primer.
After making ourselves beautiful, we had some fun taking some much needed selfies! I mean, did you even have amazing make up done if theres no selfie to prove it??
The important details
The workshop was well prepared and we each had our own workstation set up. We also received a lovely goodie bag and there were some spot prizes too!
