Potato Bake – Our family secret recipe {banting friendly}

As I type up this blog post I feel like I am betraying my family as I am pretty much letting out a well kept secret. I hope my mom doesn’t see this post ha! So here it is. Potato Bake – Our family secret recipe {banting friendly}.

This dish is a total hit, especially at braais! When I can’t think of what to make with the braai, I just make this.

To turn this dish into a full on banting dish, just swop the potatoes for baby marrows, slicing them long ways (ribbon like).

Ok so you’ll need about 4-6 potatoes. 1 tub of fresh cream, crushed garlic (fresh or bottled), half a green pepper, 1 large onion and cheese of your choice.

Slice potatos as seen in the pic below, slice onions (rings) and chop green pepper into chunky size pieces as this gives all the flavour.

Then add some salt and pepper to taste. Throw the crushed garlic into the fresh cream tub and mix together. Then pour the cream over the potatoes mixture. Sprinkle some grated cheese over. Pop it into a preheated oven (180 degrees) and bake for about 45 minutes. Or until potatoes are soft and cheese is golden.

Serve as a side dish or main with your favorite grilled meat and cold salad.
