Review: Johnson’s Baby Top-to-Toe range. So I recently received the Johnson’s top-to-toe range from Beauty Bulletin to try out and to share my experience using the range. I was so chuffed because I had a jump start since I had already been using the wash a few months prior. I hadn’t used the moisturisers and massage oil though so I was pretty keen on trying those out.
Honestly, I must admit, I learn’t quite a lot during these couple of weeks, about my baby’s skin, that I didn’t know before. I didn’t know how different baby’s skin is compared to that of ours as adults. For one, baby’s skin is 30% thinner than our adult skin. Considering that this is the first point of contact for germs and viruses, it means your baby is more at risk than you and I. The fact that a baby’s skin heals much faster than that of an adult, does not mean it shouldn’t be well protected and moisturised.
Baby’s skin also loses it’s moisture five times faster than ours. I bath Cole around late afternoon each day and I now finally understand why his skin seemed so dry in the mornings.
Sensitive skin seems to be quite common among babies these days. Cole too has sensitive skin, it was dry and had a slight rash. So I have been extremely fussy since birth with what products I use on his body. I have been quite reluctant to try out new products but I went with my gut on this one since Johnson’s has over 120 years experience in skin care!
Review: Johnson’s Baby Top-to-Toe range
Top-to-toe Wash – Retailing at R59.99 for a 500ml and R39.95 for a 300ml bottle.
As mentioned earlier, I started using the wash a few months ago already. I immediately noticed that his skin was free of irritation. Prior to using the Johnson’s Top-to-toe wash, I would have to chop and change between brands as I simply couldn’t find one that worked. This product is very gentle and almost as close as using water on his skin and this is something I look for in a product.
Top-to-toe Massage Oil – Retailing at R39.95 for a 200ml bottle.
This was the first time I had used a massage oil. I started using it on day 1 of receiving the range. It gave his skin a real boost and I found it wasn’t necessary for him to use it for the rest of the week. By the next day, just before his bath, I could literally still feel and smell the massage oil on him. This is how well protected and moisturized his skin was.
Top-to-toe Massage Lotion – Retialing at R39.95 for 200ml and R59.95 for a 500ml bottle.
I used the massage lotion on day 2 of receiving the range. It made his skin feel so supple and soft. It really has a great smell too. Cole is very impatient when I am changing him and nothing stands in his way but when I handed him the bottle to hold while I massaged him, he was so calm, it kept him busy the entire time which was a major bonus. It doesn’t spill either and the lids closes quite tightly. Tightly enough for him to not open it all up.
Top-to-toe Extra Moisturising Cream – Retailing at R24.95 for a 100ml tube.
I love it when I see the word “extra” on a product. It just tells me there is more of the good stuff in it. And you know how the saying goes, “leave the best for last”. And that’s exactly what I did. I used the extra moisturising baby cream on day 7 and also found it be a great boost. As soon as I squirted it into my hand, I could feel the consistancy is alot thicker than the other massage lotion so the name is definately fitting. It made Coles skin feel extra supple and gentle, just exactly the way a baby’s skin should feel. I am especially reluctant to use any products on Coles face but after trying out all of the products from this range, I am happy to say there was no irritation on his skin and it keeps his skin feeling as soft as it did on the day he was born!
So, what are the benefits of this range?
- My baby’s paper thin skin is well protected from germs and viruses.
2. My baby’s skin is kept moisturised for 24 hours.
3. I need not worry about his skin being exposed to harmful ingredients because Johnson’s have taken special care to only use ingredients that are safe on baby’s skin.
4. It’s affordable and easy on the pocket. It goes such a long way. I am still using the same bottle of top-to-toe wash that I bought more than a month ago. One small squeeze is enough for his entire body. The same applies with the massage oil and lotion. I ran out of shower wash the other day just before we did our month-end shopping. So I used some of Coles baby wash and I too did not need to use alot. It left my skin feeling young again :-))
5. It’s packaging design is practical. I cannot even count on my fingers how many times it’s fallen on the floor but the lid of either of the products have never opened because of it falling.
